### From need to the founding of the company

Oracle was founded in 2006 following a study on the impact of dust on books and conservation environments.

The initial analysis, developed in collaboration with an industry professional, highlighted a real but largely unaddressed problem:
the **lack of suitable tools for the cleaning and conservation of library materials**.

The first machines were therefore developed as a direct response to this need, marking the start of a journey focused from the outset on specific solutions.

### Solutions designed around the book

Another principle guiding our conservation design is **to bring the machine to the book, rather than the book to the machine**.

Cleaning takes place directly on the shelf, without transferring the volumes to dedicated facilities. This **reduces handling and limits the risk of damage**, especially in the most delicate cases.

# An international benchmark for the conservation of library materials

The installation at the Boston Public Library marked an important moment of international visibility, thanks in part to coverage by publications such as the Huffington Post and others, including in Italy, which reported on how it works.

Over time, the **solutions have been adopted in contexts** that **vary greatly** in terms of size, organisation and approach to conservation. This widespread adoption highlights the ability to adapt to different operational and cultural needs, whilst maintaining consistency in methodology and standards of intervention.

## Supporting the preservation of books and documents

This journey stems from a clear insight: to develop the first solutions dedicated to book materials when this field was not yet structured, taking on the role of a first mover.
