The first machines were therefore developed as a direct response to this need, marking the start of a journey focused from the outset on specific solutions. ### Solutions designed around the book Another principle guiding our conservation design is **to bring the machine to the book, rather than the book to the machine**. Cleaning takes place directly on the shelf, without transferring the volumes to dedicated facilities.
